The Message Should Be Delivered
Written By: Peter Denby

When asked what was the greatest commandment Jesus answered and said "You shall love the Lord your God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul and with all thy strength." (Matthew 22:37) Without this love we would not be able to find happiness and fulfillment. We are in told in Matthew 22:39 "and the second is liken unto it, thou shall love thy neighbor as thy self." The most important way that we are to show that love, is by showing those who do not know God what they need to do. Some people say that we need to give our salvation away. Of course we can not give our salvation away, but we need to be teaching others as if our lives depended on it. Remember that it says we need to love our neighbor as ourselves. We are told in the Bible that "repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all the nations beginning at Jerusalem." (Luke 24:47) The message is first and foremost God's word. While this verse mentions two parts of the message of salvation, we find that this is only part of that message. Other parts of the message are found in Acts 2:38, Mark 16:16 and Matthew 10:32. If this were the entire message many would know Christ but would not have the knowledge of God's power and will for us. We first of all need to bring the complete undiluted message. (Deuteronomy 4:2; Revelation 22:18-19) "Ye are the light of the world. A city set on a hill can not be hid. Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." (Matthew 5:14-16 RS). We are responsible to make sure that the Light of the Word is spread to all. God's message also shows us that there were others who tread the path before us and recorded it for us to learn from. "Timothy, an apostle of Jesus Christ" (I Timothy 1:1), tells us to "set the believers an example in speech and conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity." (Timothy 4:12 RS) One of the aims of this newsletter is to be an example in speech, love, faith and purity to fellow believers and others through the printed word. Sometimes we forget to read His word and pray daily and need a gentle and caring word of encouragement from our brothers and sisters in Christ as well as from other religious sources. As fellow members of the body of Christ we need to "exhort one another; and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching." (Hebrews 10:25) As members of the Lord's Church we would hope that we could use this forum to provoke you, the readers, to love and good works. (See Hebrews 10:24) In closing we at Gospel Light Ministries do hope that you find The Gospel Light will help to put some of God's light into your life at times when you may need it, as well as to encourage you to put God's light into the life of others through your example and teaching. We need to make sure that we are out brightening up our brothers and sisters in Christ, as well as those in the world. May God Bless you richly!
